The Evidence For Saffron As An Antidepressnt Drug Alternative

So, what is the evidence to support the notion that flowers, and saffron, elevates the human spirit, contributes to happiness and well-being?

There is a rather extensive body of human clinical literature on its role in treating depression, including this meta-analysis of the literature which concluded: "Findings from clinical trials conducted to date indicate that saffron supplementation can improve symptoms of depression in adults with MDD [Major Depressive Disorder]"[1]

Also, a study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology in 2015 reveals that saffron is as at least as effective as the blockbuster pharmaceutical drug Prozac for treating mild to moderate depression:

Our objective was to compare the efficacy of hydro-alcoholic extract of Crocus sativus (stigma) with fluoxetine in the treatment of mild to moderate depression in a 6-week double-blind, randomized trial. Forty adult outpatients who met the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fourth edition for major depression based on the structured clinical interview for DSM-IV and with mild to moderate depression participated in the trial. In this double-blind, single-center trial and randomized trial, patients were randomly assigned to receive capsules of saffron 30 mg/day (BD) (Group 1) and capsule of fluoxetine 20 mg/day (BD) (Group 2) for a 6-week study. Saffron at this dose was found to be effective similar to fluoxetine in the treatment of mild to moderate depression (F = 0.13, d.f. = 1, P = 0.71). There were no significant differences in the two groups in terms of observed side effects. The results of this study indicate the efficacy of Crocus sativus in the treatment of mild to moderate depression."

Happiness, on one level, starts with the diet THAT IS EXACTLY RIGHT for you, specifically.

Did you know that you can work out if you should be eating meat or not?

Take 50mg of Niacin (Vitamin B3) on and empty stomach. Note: you want the regular niacin NOT the non flush version.

If you experience no flush then you are well suited to being a vegetarian.

If you experience a flush, (you go red and feel hot) then you are suited to eating meat.

A mild flush means you can eat both.

Please read up about the amazing benefits of niacin for happiness and much more. http://www.doctoryourself.com/hoffer_niacin.html
